RTA and South County Transit offer bus passes to make paying for your ride as easy as possible. There are many choices to fit your riding schedule.
You can now purchase bus passes and show your ticket to the driver using your phone. Just download the Token Transit app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
RTA offers discounted/ half price fares. To qualify to use the discount fare, riders must
verify their eligibility by providing proof that they are included in one of the benefit groups.
Once eligibility is verified, the rider will be issued a Discount Eligibility Card with your
photo. This card is to be presented to the bus operator or at any pass outlet vendor to utilize discount cash fares or bus passes.
Discount fares are for:
• 18 years and under on all systems except for
the South County bus routes 21,24,27 & 28
• 65 years and older
• Individuals with disabilities
• Medicare Card holders
How to get a Discount Eligibility Card
• Come to the RTA administrative office in SLO or come to a registration event
• Complete a Basic Eligibility Form
• Provide proof of eligibility for your category
• Have your photo taken and a card will be issued to you.
Documents that will prove eligibility:
• Government issued ID card or passport
• DMV Placard or registration number
• Medicare claim number (not Medi-Cal)
• Copy of SSI acceptance letter
Purchasing a discounted fare bus pass on
Token Transit:
RTA requires that riders who want to purchase a pass using the Token Transit App will also
need to be verified to purchase the discounted
pass. The process is the same as above. After
the process is completed, your eligibility will be recorded with Token Transit.
Regional Day Pass
Unlimited rides on all RTA, South County routes, SLO Transit, Paso Robles Routes A & B, and Morro Bay Transit routes for the date indicated.

South County Day Pass
Unlimited rides on all four South County routes for the date purchased: Routes 21,24,27,28. This does not include Route 10 that operates in the South County as well.

RTA & South County Stored Value Pass
Valid for travel on RTA & the South County fixed route service. The applicable fare is deducted from the card whenever you use it. Stored value passes will deactivate one year from the date that they were created. If your pass deactivates and you have not used its full value, please contact our administrative office to move any remaining value onto a new pass at (805) 781-4833.

VIP Pass
Unlimited free rides for seniors 80 or older on all RTA, SLO Transit, South County routes, Paso Robles Routes A & B and Morro Bay Transit. You may obtain a special photo ID card in person from RTA or show your valid ID. You may fill out an application in advance with a photograph. Learn more about our discount policy. ADA Eligible Passengers
ADA Paratransit customers that present a “Certificate of Eligibility for ADA Paratransit Service” ID card may ride all RTA and the South County routes for free. Learn more about the Runabout Paratransit service, eligibility requirements and applications.
